Three Gifts Project
SCC works with Sharon Social Services to “adopt” local children and provide them with gifts at Christmas. Local families in need request THREE GIFTS for each of their children—we cheerfully purchase and lovingly wrap and deliver the requested gifts.

Bringing God’s Light to a Darkened World

The mission board seeks to listen to the needs in our own community and the needs of people in our complex world. By practicing sound stewardship over our resources we work to be a light in the world and share God’s love for humanity. This is aligned with the broader mission of our church to be “a fellowship of believers called to live in the light of Jesus Christ and to bring his light to a darkened world.”

We have made an impact by donating to and working with the following organizations: 

Church World Service

  • Blanket Sunday– Purchase of blankets distributed to people involved in natural disasters

  • Gifts of the Heart– Hygiene kits, clean-up buckets, school kits, baby layettes

  • CROP WALK

Samaritan’s Purse

Astor Head Start 

  • Emergency Medicine Fund – Millerton, NY

Local Social Services

  • White Gifts – Christmas gifts for local families

  • Chore Service – Chores provided for the elderly and disabled

Food Pantries

  • Food of Life food pantry at St. Thomas Church in Amenia Union

  • Corner Food Pantry at St. Mary’s Church in Lakeville

  • FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity) services for the homeless and hungry in NWCT), 332 S. Main Street, Torrington, CT

Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation

  • For many years our church has provided gifts and birthday cake for Geer Nursing’s June birthday party.

Hospital Albert Schweitzer

  • Medical hospital in Deschapelles, Haiti

World Vision

Equus Effect

  • Helps veterans rebuild healthy relationships b y increasing self-awareness and enhancing mental and emotional resilience through purposeful engagement with horses.
